Fulbright Roundtable at ASE International Conference on Language Education and Research

The Fulbright Commission added a strong U.S. flavor to the international conference "Improving Standards of Quality in Language Education and Research" organized by the ASE Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication together with its international partners on March 1-2. The U.S. academic impact was twofold: while Prof. Swales from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, was the key note speaker with a presentation on “Entering Academic Publication Worlds: Reflections and Responses”, the Fulbright Commission was the highlight of the section Improving Professional/Academic Performance through Educational and Cultural Exchanges with its roundtable on “The Impact of Educational and Cultural Exchanges on Language Education and Research”.
The 90-minute long roundtable was moderated by Prof. Rodica Mihaila, Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission, and included as panelists current U.S. Fulbright grantees and Romanian alumni of the Fulbright program. The panelists came from a representative  range of higher education institutions, all enriched by the Fulbright program: Gene Tanta and Ruxandra Dragan from University of Bucharest, Stephanie Herzog from “Cuza” University in Iasi, Voichita Ghenghea from the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, Elijah Ferbrache from “Transylvania” University in Brasov, and Mihaela Arsene from ASE in Bucharest.
The session attracted faculty, undergraduate and doctoral students. They were all inspired by the opportunities for professional development and institutional enhancement available through the Fulbright program.
