FEAC-EducationUSA Team Connects with Students and Researchers in Cluj-Napoca

This week, the FEAC-EducationUSA team was present in Cluj-Napoca for the second leg of the spring edition of RIUF (Romanian International University Fair). We took this opportunity to reach out to a variety of audiences in Cluj, one of the most prestigious academic centers in the country.

On March 20, we met with high schoolers interested in studying in the U.S at the American Corner in Cluj, which has so generously hosted FEAC’s presentations for many years. Over 90 students (9th to 11th graders) from several secondary schools in Cluj had a chance to learn more about the U.S. higher education system and received advice on how to best approach the application process, so as to enhance their chances of getting financial aid.  We encouraged prospective applicants to take advantage of the newest test preparation materials which await them at the local American Corner and to keep in touch with the FEAC team via online advising.

On March 21, the FEAC team interacted with over a hundred RIUF visitors in Cluj, many of whom came from surrounding areas and were curious to know more both about study opportunities in the United States. The FEAC advisers were delighted to give them an overview of various paths to studying in the U.S., at an undergraduate or graduate level, and to answer more specific questions concerning the application process.

We closed the day with a presentation focused on the Fulbright Junior Award and independent applications to graduate programs in the U.S., kindly hosted and co-organized by the Center for International Development within Babes-Bolyai University, attended by an assorted audience of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as a number of researchers and academics keen to learn more about the Fulbright Senior Award.
