Collaboration between Romanian and U.S. Fulbright Alumni

athanorRomanian poet and performer Chris Tanasescu (Margento) and American poet and translator Martin Woodside, both Fulbright alumni, worked together on the translation of Gellu Naum’s poetry, recently published in the volume Athanor & Other Pohems by Calypso Editions, an artist-run, nonprofit press dedicated to publishing quality literature in translation by established and emerging authors.

About the book: “One of Romania’s most important poets and a key figure in the surrealist movement, Gellu Naum remains almost entirely unknown to English speaking audiences.  Sampling some of Naum’s best work from a unique literary career spanning over more than 60 years, this collection offers a long overdue introduction to one of the greatest figures in 20th century European poetry.”
