Building friendships as a Fulbrighter

The HLS LLM program was so much more than just a chance to learn about the rules and functioning of the US legal system; it was an unique opportunity to interact with US law students and famous US scholars and practitioners in a vibrant, restless and demanding academic environment that enhances your perspectives over the legal profession and what you as a practitioner or scholar can do. At the same time, it was about exchanging opinions with your fellow LLM students coming from different countries and having such a diverse background, getting to know them, their culture, their way of thinking, the way they speak, the values they worship, how they have fun. This provides you with a broader understanding of different events happening around the world, understanding that you cannot achieve only by reading books.

Last but not least, the program offers the most favorable environment for building friendships and applying the Latin saying carpe diem (seize the day). I am really confident that the friendships that each of us started during the LLM program at HLS will prove to be long lasting one.”
