The Fulbright Ambassador Program – Call for Applications
The Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission invites Romanian Fulbright alumni interested in representing the Fulbright Program within their communities and professional networks to apply for the role of Fulbright Ambassador!
The Fulbright Ambassador Program aims to raise awareness about Fulbright opportunities across Romania, encouraging a diverse range of future participants. Fulbright Ambassadors play a central role in promoting the Fulbright Program within their local communities by organizing and participating in events and information sessions, supporting potential applicants, sharing their Fulbright experiences, and collaborating with fellow alumni to broaden the program’s visibility.
Ambassadors’ Term
One year, from March 2025 through March 2026, with the possibility of extension for a second year.
Eligibility Information
- Applicants must be Romanian alumni of the Fulbright Program. Current 2024-2025 grantees are also eligible if they complete their Fulbright grant by March 1, 2025.
- Applications must be submitted by alumni who are living and working in Romania during the ambassadorial term.
- Candidates who have previously served as Fulbright Ambassadors are also eligible to apply.
Application process
Eligible applicants should submit the following to office@fulbright.ro no later than January 15, 2025:
Commission’s role
- Organize biannual meetings with the Ambassadors, including training sessions on the Commission’s programs.
- Equip the Ambassadors with up-to-date information and materials (presentations, hand-outs, promotional items, etc.) about the Commission’s programs.
- Provide financial support for small-scale events organized by the Ambassadors in their respective cities or academic centers (at least two events per year), with each ambassador eligible to request up to $1,200 per year for event funding.*
- Cover or reimburse transportation and accommodation expenses for Ambassadors attending relevant meetings organized by the Commission.
- Promote the Ambassadors’ activities through social media and other available channels.
*The use of funds will be subject to arrangements between the Ambassador and the Program coordinator at the Commission, following the cost coverage policies specific to this program.
