After three months of living in Evanston and doing research at Northwestern University, the Fulbright experience has proved to be a long string of lessons that have enriched my life. This cultural exchange is a story about our universal values unfolding from acts of random kindness and generosity to rich and thoughtful conversations with my academic peers. Each day I have the opportunity to learn about the broader meaning of the word education. I enjoy a diversity of encounters and experiences, such as the serene frozen landscape of Lake Michigan, the acoustic concerts in the park, the exciting journey of American jazz told in an international student event, the beautiful exhibitions from Chicago Art Museum, an anecdote told by the guy from the hotdog place next to the stadium. All these are part of life and make my research more authentic. Along with the conferences and lectures on essential topics in Humanities, these encounters compose the wonderful picture that is my Fulbright experience so far.
