For Romanian professors, researchers and professionals who have a doctoral degree or equivalent (certified) and are interested in conducting research and/or lecturing in U.S. universities.
A six-week professional development program in the United States for secondary-level teachers to take academic seminars at a host university, observe and share their expertise with U.S. teachers and students, and develop action plans to promote media literacy and critical thinking skills in their home schools, classrooms, and communities. Usually, the competition is announced in November. Once the competition is launched, it will be advertised in the Upcoming Grant Deadlines section of this website.
SUSI for Student Leaders is a five-week academic program for undergraduate students. The Institutes are an all-expense paid program in the United States, including meals, transportation, accident and sickness insurance and incidental expenses. Each year the program accepts applications on various themes. Once the competition is launched, it will be advertised in the Upcoming Grant Deadlines section of this website.
The Fulbright Schuman Program awards scholarships to European citizens for research or lecture in the United States on a topic that is relevant to US-EU relations, EU affairs/policy, or EU institutions and shows relevancy to at least two EU member states.

The Fulbright S-I-R program offers opportunities to non-U.S. visiting scholars from different countries, including Romania, to teach at U.S. colleges and universities for one or both semesters of one academic year. The scholars are expected to contribute to internationalization of the programs and campus, assist with the development of curricula and faculty and support initiatives meant to diversify student and faculty experiences.
The SIR program targets U.S. institutions that might not have a strong international component and belong to one of the following categories: historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, tribal colleges, community colleges, small liberal-arts institutions.
The U.S. institutions of higher education intending to invite a Romanian visiting scholar within the SIR program should submit proposals to the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). The U.S. institutions may either invite specific scholars by name or have CIES recruit scholars from a particular field with the support of Fulbright agencies.
