On March 22, 2012, the American Corner Timișoara hosted an event which reunited American Studies scholars at the West University of Timișoara with colleagues teaching at the King Khalid University (Abha, Saudi Arabia). Guest lecturers Sorin Ciutacu (Associate Professor, PhD) and Joseph Frank Uddo III (Lecturer, MS) spoke about two different hypotheses of the American metropolis: New Amsterdam. The Dutch Tradition of 17th Century New York and, respectively, Post 9/11 New York. Places and People. Romanian Fulbright alumna Cristina Chevereșan (Assistant Professor, PhD) and American Junior Fulbright Lecturer Jessica Miller used their own experiences to introduce the Fulbright Awards to the audience and encourage enrolment in this year’s competition. Their interactive presentation entitled Dreaming of New York? Fulbright Can Make It Happen proved particularly interesting for the BA and MA students who attended the meeting.
