U.S. Fulbright Alumna Dr. Elizabeth Lightfoot received the University of Minnesota Award for Global Engagement in recognition of her contribution to international understanding, global engagement, and institution building both at the University of Minnesota and abroad. The Virtual Award Ceremony and Reception took place on January 12 and included congratulation messages from UNM representatives, but also from international scholars, students and professionals with whom Dr. Lightfoot has collaborated over the years.
Dr. Elizabeth Lightfoot is a Professor of Social Work, Director of the Doctoral Program at the School of Social Work, and a two-time Fulbright recipient, most recently at the University of Bucharest in 2018-2019, but also at the University of Namibia in 2008. During her Fulbright grant in Romania, Dr. Lightfoot mentored faculty and students and helped develop new approaches to training emerging scholars. She is hoping to develop an ongoing exchange program between the University of Bucharest and the University of Minnesota.
Our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Lightfoot!
