On April 26, the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and EducationUSA Romania organized the fourth edition of the U.S. Alumni Fair, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest. The fair hosted by the National Library of Romania is included among the events marking the 30th anniversary of the Fulbright Commission.
Following a brief introduction by Prof. Mircea Dumitru, the Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission, the visitors were welcomed by U.S. Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, Ms. Rebecca Zeigler Mano, Director of the Education Matters non-profit organization, and Prof. Adrian Cioroianu, Director of the National Library of Romania.
28 alumni of various American universities – diplomats from the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Fulbright grantees – came together as representatives of their alma maters and spoke to the numerous visitors, from Bucharest and elsewhere, who joined us on an exploration of the American college experience. During the 3-hour event, the high school and college students visiting the fair, together with their teachers and parents, had the opportunity to interact with the American alumni and to get more in-depth information on the Fulbright programs for Romanian citizens, as well as on the free services and resources offered by the Fulbright-EducationUSA Advising Center.
Our warmest thanks to all those who made the event possible and, above all, to the U.S. Alumni who supported our initiative and graciously represented their alma maters!
