On June 10–11, we had the pleasure of organizing the final meeting for the 2024–2025 U.S. Fulbright grantees in Romania, hosted by “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.
The event began with warm welcomes from Assoc. Prof. Eva-Nicoleta Burdușel, Vice-Dean for Research, Innovation, and Internationalization; Peter H. Brown, Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy; and Prof. Mircea Dumitru, Executive Director of the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission.
Throughout the meeting, U.S. Fulbright Scholars, Student Researchers, and English Teaching Assistants shared highlights of their teaching and research work. They also presented an impressive range of academic and cultural initiatives—from conferences and public lectures to community engagement and volunteering work. Their contributions left a meaningful impact on their Romanian colleagues, students, and local communities.
On the second day, the group visited the ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization, located in the Dumbrava Sibiului Natural Park. One of Europe’s largest open-air museums, ASTRA spans 96 hectares and features over 400 traditional houses, household annexes, and installations, celebrating the country’s traditions and cultural heritage.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the Fulbright grantees for their dedication and enthusiasm, and to our hosts at “Lucian Blaga” University for their generous hospitality.
