This past week, on March 26 and 27, one half of the FEAC-EducationUSA advising team was present in Iaşi for a series of outreach presentations, highlighting study and research opportunities in the United States via the Fulbright Awards, as well as independent study opportunities at an undergraduate or graduate level.
On March 26, the FEAC adviser met with high schoolers interested in studying in the U.S., at the “National” College in Iaşi, in an event facilitated by American Corner Iaşi. An average 60 students – mainly 11th graders – attended the presentation, which provided them with an overview of the U.S. higher education system and advice on how to best approach the application process, so as to enhance their chances of getting financial aid. Attendees were happy to learn they can keep in touch with the FEAC-EducationUSA team via online advising.
The second presentation of the week, kindly hosted and co-organized by the Department of International Relations within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi, was aimed at undergraduates and graduate students interested in study and research opportunities in the United States and focused on the Fulbright Student Award for Romanian citizens. Current U.S. Fulbright grantees Monica Cure and Mariah Ligas also took part in the event, sharing a bit of their personal experience as U.S. Fulbrighters to Romania, as well as useful tips to help guide potential applicants through the Fulbright application process and beyond.
Many thanks to Monica and Mariah, as well as to Ms. Ioana Serafinceanu, Department of International Relations, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi, and Ms. Revi Ianciac, American Corner Iaşi coordinator, who kindly lent their support in organizing and promoting the events.
