The Fulbright Commission and the Fulbright Educational Advising Center (FEAC)-EducationUSA had the pleasure of being invited by the U.S. Embassy to speak at the 2018 edition of Bookfest, the International Book Fair organized by the Romanian Federation of Publishers. This edition’s guest of honor was the United States, which provided ample opportunity for the visitors to learn more about American literary culture. The panel organized by the Fulbright Commission on May 31 was titled “The Fulbright Award Program: A bridge between the United States and the rest of the world” and included interventions by current U.S. Fulbright grantees Brooke Reavey and Bridget Kelley and by Romanian Fulbright alumni Dragoș Ivana and Monica Got. The panel was led by Corina Danaila and Mihai Moroiu, directors of the Romanian and American Fulbright programs respectively.
On June 3rd, the FEAC-EducationUSA adviser had the opportunity to address the topic of study opportunities in the United States during the last day of the book fair. The presentation was joined by Mr. Scott Reese, U.S. cultural attaché, who spoke about the specific differences between the American system of higher education and the European model, with an emphasis on the advantages of a well-rounded undergraduate education and specialized graduate programs in the United States, ending with a brief Q&A session.
