Romania took hold of my heart in 2015 and since then has consumed my mind and soul. As with any genuine commitment, my relationship with this beautiful, complex country has grown and deepened over time as I have learned of its many tragedies, as well as its many triumphs. I have surrendered myself to Romania. [...] As I continue my Romanian journey, I marvel over the resiliency and fortitude of the people. I am fortunate to have developed close relationships, familial in many ways, with many Romanians. And I am eternally grateful to have been granted a Fulbright and honored to become part of this amazing community.
Fulbright Programs Presented at the University of Craiova
Fulbright Ambassadors play an important role in strengthening connections between the Romanian and U.S. academic communities and in promoting the opportunities offered by the Fulbright Program. A recent example is the participation of a Fulbright Commission representative in an event organized by Fulbright Ambassador Mihaela Tinca Udriștioiu at the University of Craiova (UCV) on September 7.
The presentation, focusing on research and teaching opportunities available to Romanian scholars through the Fulbright Program, brought together participants from various UCV schools, as well as scholars from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Fulbright Ambassador Mihaela Tinca Udriștioiu, a two-time recipient of a Visiting Scholar Award at Georgia Southern University, shared her experience as a Romanian Fulbrighter in the U.S., while the Fulbright Commission’s representative spoke about the application process, eligibility criteria, and award benefits.
Through initiatives such as this one, Fulbright Ambassadors help strengthen academic exchange and create new opportunities for cooperation in research and teaching. Their work can also contribute to longer-term academic partnerships, as reflected in the recently agreed memorandum of understanding between UCV and Georgia Southern University and the prospective visits of U.S. scholars to UCV.
