Romania took hold of my heart in 2015 and since then has consumed my mind and soul. As with any genuine commitment, my relationship with this beautiful, complex country has grown and deepened over time as I have learned of its many tragedies, as well as its many triumphs. I have surrendered myself to Romania. [...] As I continue my Romanian journey, I marvel over the resiliency and fortitude of the people. I am fortunate to have developed close relationships, familial in many ways, with many Romanians. And I am eternally grateful to have been granted a Fulbright and honored to become part of this amazing community.
Interview Prep Workshop Taught by Fulbright ETA Bridget Kelly @FEAC
On December 11, the EdUSA-affiliated Fulbright Educational Advising Center hosted a workshop titled “Acing Your Admission Interview”, coordinated by Fulbright ETA and FEAC friend Bridget Kelly. Bridget shared practical tips on how to approach with maximum confidence the interview some U.S. universities require as part of the admission process, providing examples of commonly asked questions and encouraging participants to do some critical reflection well in advance, to be able to answer those questions confidently and ask their own questions, highlighting their genuine interest in a particular school.
While discussion was encouraged throughout the workshop, at the end the participants, mainly 10th and 11th graders from some of the top Bucharest high schools, had a chance to ask questions on topics ranging from how to avoid repetitiveness to examples of unusual questions that might come up during an interview.

Fulbright is not just about research and academic events. At least for me, it was also about meeting new people, experiencing the local food, trying to understand different values. For two months my wife and daughter (she is 9) were in Athens with me, and together we were able to travel to Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington. The experiences we had together were extraordinary, and my daughter was impressed enough to declare that she plans to come to college at UGA, probably around 2032.
