U.S. Fulbrighter Sarah Brown gave a captivating interview on TVR Cultural for the TV show “Portrait of an artist” discussing her play, “A Secret About Joy”, which was performed this summer at the Grand Synagogue of Sibiu as part of the International Theatre Festival in Sibiu (FITS 2022).
In the interview, Sarah also talked about her family background, which played a significant role in the creation of the play and ultimately brought her to Romania, where she is teaching and sharing her expertise and passion about theatre with the students from “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.
Sarah’s play brings together students from “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and professional actors from “Radu Stanca” National Theatre and imagines the Jewish community in Sibiu back in the interwar period, in 1927, with all their dreams, hopes, struggles and heartaches.
