"I brought back enduring connections with colleagues and friends and a resolve to return to reconnect and continue to explore the hidden corners of Romania and maybe find my own special spot in a secluded 'sat.'"
Professor Dan Sultănescu, 2022-23 Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of South Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communications, has had the opportunity of an excellent dialogue with the students of his host university during a presentation he gave concerning Romania’s media market and media consumption patterns. Prof. Sultănescu offered details about the evolution of the Romanian public’s trust in Western allies and other conclusions resulted from the work done at the Center for Civic Participation and Democracy in Romania.
The presentation continued with a discussion on how the U.S. and Romanian audiences differ as regards social media habits. The students were also interested to find out more about life during Communism and the early democratic transition and were very much amazed by the look of Transfăgărășan and other Romanian tourist attractions.
Professor Sultănescu takes the opportunity to thank Prof. Randy Covington whose invitation to organize the presentation generated such a welcome and inspiring event.
