REAC Katherine Scodova and EdUSA Romania VSFS Intern Connect with Romanian Students via Webinar

Guest speakers Katherine Scodova, EducationUSA REAC for Europe and Eurasia, and Boston Kistka, EducationUSA Romania virtual intern, joined the Fulbright-EducationUSA Romania advising team for two consecutive webinars on U.S. higher education and study opportunities in the U.S., kindly facilitated by the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest’s Information Resource Center/American Spaces team.
A total of 345 participants, including teachers and students from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Bacău, Craiova, Constanţa, Călăraşi, Medgidia, Piteşti, Sibiu, and Târgu Mureş, attended the online sessions, which took place on January 25 and January 27. Participants had a chance to learn more the various types of U.S. higher ed institutions, the liberal arts model, financial aid opportunities, and the path to studying in the U.S. as an undergraduate student. Participants also had a lot of questions, on topics ranging from school selection to financial aid and cultural adjustment, and received valuable advice from the two guest speakers.
The Fulbright-EducationUSA Romania advising team encouraged the students, mainly 9th and 10th graders, to explore the wide range of free services and resources they can access via the Fulbright-EducationUSA Advising Center and to keep up with us via newsletter and social media.
Both sessions met with enthusiastic response from the audience.

Alumni Stories

"My Fulbright visit at Rutgers has offered amazing opportunities not only to present my work in the area of Human-Animal Interactions to some of the faculties of Rutgers University and SSW students, but also to establish valuable connections for future collaborations."

Alina Rusu
Fulbright Visiting Scholar, 2017-2018

"I did not get to give Columbia a proper farewell last Spring, but I will do it now as a new year begins, and as I continue to unpack lessons from my time here. I arrived at Columbia full of curiosity and academic naiveté. Now I’m leaving with a collection of lessons yet to be fully revealed and distilled."

Oana Mihalache
Fulbright Student Researcher, 2019-2020

"My time as a Fulbrighter was about so much more than the research I was honored to work on. It was about building lasting relationships, learning about Romanian culture, and sharing my experiences with friends."

Elizabeth Wiita
U.S. Fulbright Student Researcher, 2019-2020

"The Fulbright Scholar Award gave me the unique opportunity to conduct research at the reputed Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, and meet top scholars in communication and public diplomacy."

Alina Dolea
Fulbright Senior Award, 2015-2016

"The idea of experiencing one of the best education systems in the world (if not the best) could be quite overwhelming. But soon I realized that this is going to be a unique opportunity to learn as much as possible, to work like never before in my academic life. And I did just that."

Ciprian Crețu
Fulbright Student Researcher, 2019-2020

"In all, I feel fulfilled despite a truncated Fulbright experience. Thankfully, I got a taste of all my goals, in some fashion, before the pandemic. And it’s only a matter of time before I come back to fully explore Romania and Europe, hand-in-hand with my fellow colleagues and friends."

Allen Chen
U.S. Fulbright ETA, 2019-2020
