The first presentation took place at the Center for International Cooperation at Babes-Bolyai University and targeted students interested in graduate study opportunities. The participants received information about Education USA’s services and resources and about the opportunity to apply for a Fulbright Student Award for masters and research programs in the U.S. Special guest, Joe Dobson, Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Babes-Bolyai University, greeted the students with a comparison between the Romanian and American education systems.

Romanian International University Fair in Bucharest

On March 15 and 16, FEAC took part in the most prominent educational fair in SE Europe, the Romanian Int’l University Fair/RIUF, in Bucharest.

Continuing a long tradition of strategic partnership with the Romanian Int’l University Fair, the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and its  EducationUSA Romania admissions services were again present at this year’s edition of the Fair. Information on Fulbright programs and advising on study in the U.S. in general were provided at the Fulbright booth and during a presentation on U.S. study opportunities for both undergrads and grads.

During the fair we benefited from the support of three U.S. Fulbright grantees at our booth: also present were former and current FEAC interns as well as Fulbright staff, all on hand to promote U.S. education. The two-days event proved successful, with over 280 people stopping by, asking questions and learning more about all the free services the Advising Center offers in order to support them in the application process.

On March 18 and 20, the Fulbright Commissions and its Advising Center will also be present at the RIUF events in Cluj and in Iasi.

Graduate School Prospects Pack the American Corner for Insights on U.S. Study

Friday, March 7, the Fulbright Educational Advising Center/FEAC gave a presentation regarding graduate school admissions and Fulbright Scholarship opportunities to a packed room at the American Corner at the National Library in Bucharest.

Thirty-seven would-be expat scholars got tips on how to attract financial aid and navigate the application process. Guests at the event included current American Fulbright grantee Anna Sherod as well as former Romanian Fulbright grantees Ioana Moldovan (the National University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography) and Marius Profiroiu (Bucharest University of Economic Studies). They encouraged applicants to apply, citing their personal positive experiences with cross-cultural education. The diversity and quality of US education were illustrated in Dr. Moldovan and Dr. Profiroiu’s answers to the many audience questions. Participants were urged to visit FEAC for more resources, to participate in seminars, or for individualized advice.
