Last week, Fulbright ETA Katlin Riley attended the 9th edition of the EU-U.S. Young Leaders Seminar, held in Brussels, Belgium (March 23–26, 2026.) The seminar brought together 50 young professionals from across Europe and the United States to explore the theme: “The Future of Skills and Leadership.”
The event, co-financed by the European Commission and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, was organized by the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States, Belgium, and Luxembourg, in collaboration with partners on both sides of the Atlantic.
The program featured panels, workshops, and simulation exercises focused on current transatlantic challenges. Discussions examined the impact of emerging technologies, particularly AI, on skills, education pathways, and future careers, and reiterated the importance of life-long learning, cohesive leadership, adaptability, collaboration, and understanding.
Katlin also participated in practical workshops on topics including conflict transformation, EU funding, and non-institutional professional development opportunities, strengthening skills in negotiation, teamwork, and problem solving. The seminar facilitated meaningful exchange between EU and U.S. participants and highlighted a shared commitment to collaborative and sustainable approaches to global challenges and transatlantic relationships.
